The Daytona 200 Monument “Be a Part of It”

History of the Daytona 200 Motorcycle Race:

The first Daytona 200 Motorcycle race took place on January 27,1937 on a 4.2-mile oval course that ran partially up the beach for 2 miles then turned and ran down the road (A1A) for 2 miles then turned again back on the beach. The annual Daytona 200 Motorcycle Race continued the beach through 1960 (no races from 1942 through 1945 due to WW2). With the opening of Daytona International Speedway, the race was moved there in 1961 and continues there today.

History of the Daytona 200 Monument:

The Daytona 200 Monument was the Dream of three-time Daytona 200 winner Dick Klamfoth. His dream was to build the Daytona 200 Monument as a place to honor and preserve the history of the Daytona 200 Motorcycle race, from the early days of racing on the beach to the modern days of racing on the high banks of the speedway. Only through support from the City of Daytona Beach and donations from individuals and industry people was the Daytona 200 Monument made possible.  The legacy of the Daytona 200 Monument continues today through the continued support from individuals and industry people that want to be part of it through monetary donations or the purchase of personalized paver bricks and plaques that get installed each year at the Monument, Thank You.
